As winter approaches in the Northern Hemisphere and temperatures drop, the risk of respiratory infections such as influenza, COVID-19, and RSV increases significantly. For vulnerable populations – including the elderly, young children, and individuals with chronic health conditions – vaccination remains strongly recommended as the most effective preventive measure.

Zambia: Chemical waste incident in February 2025 in Copperbelt province, follow usual safe food and water measures. Cholera outbreak in Mpulungu district, select safe food and water, consider vaccination. 

Belize: Increase in dengue, avoid mosquito bites 

Bolivia: Increase in measles, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Chile: Increase in pertussis, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Colombia: Increasing pertussis, ensure vaccination is up to date. Yellow fever in multiple departments, vaccination recommended, avoid mosquito bites. 

Panama: Dengue outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Afghanistan: Increase in malaria, avoid mosquito bites and consider preventive medication American Samoa (US): Dengue infections reported, avoid mosquito bites 

Cambodia: Bird flu in several provinces, avoid contact with birds, follow hygiene measures. Increasing dengue, avoid mosquito bites. 

China, Hong Kong (China SAR): Chikungunya in Guangdong province, avoid mosquito bites India: Increase in mosquito-borne diseases, avoid mosquito bites. Influenza in Karnataka state, ensure vaccination is up to date, follow hygiene measures. Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis in Kerala state, avoid fresh water bodies. 

Indonesia: Increase in measles in East Java province, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Japan: Increase in severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), avoid tick bites. Increased heat, minimise exposure, stay hydrated. Increasing pertussis, ensure vaccination is up to date. 

Macao (China SAR): Increased risk of chikungunya, avoid mosquito bites 

Myanmar: Increased dengue activity, avoid mosquito bites

Taiwan (China): Increase in enterovirus infections, follow routine hygiene measures 

Thailand: Chikungunya in several provinces, avoid mosquito bites. Increase in hand, foot and mouth disease, pay attention to hygiene. 

Tuvalu: Dengue outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Vanuatu: Suspected whooping cough outbreak in Tafea province, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Wallis and Futuna (France): Increase in respiratory illnesses, ensure vaccinations are up to date, follow hygiene measures

Czech Republic: Increase in Lyme disease, avoid tick bites. Increase in tick-borne encephalitis, avoid tick bites, consider vaccination. 

France: First West Nile virus infections in Ile-de-France region, prevent mosquito bites. Increase in hepatitis A, vaccination recommended, pay attention to hygiene. 

Italy: Chikungunya in northern regions, avoid mosquito bites 

Israel: Polio detected, booster recommended, carry proof of vaccination
